IC-23296, Capt G. S. Vaidyanathan (11 May 1950 – 16 December 1971) was an illustrious alumnus of Sainik School Amaravathinagar (Roll No. 14), born on 11 May 1950 at Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu.
Commissioned into the Indian Army, he served with the 3rd Battalion, Assam Regiment. During the 1971 Indo–Pakistan War, he displayed exceptional courage and exemplary leadership while leading his platoon in an assault on a strongly defended enemy position.
Despite being grievously wounded by enemy fire and grenade blasts, he refused to withdraw and continued to lead his men from the front, inspiring them to capture the objective and pave the way for the advance of Indian forces. He made the Supreme Sacrifice in the line of duty on 16 December 1971.
His unwavering devotion to duty, indomitable courage, and selfless service remain a lasting inspiration to every cadet of Sainik School Amaravathinagar, reminding them that the highest honour lies in serving the Nation with courage, commitment, and sacrifice.

IC-31162P, Maj G. H. D. Dulip Singh, Sena Medal (P) (02 February 1954 – 12 August 1987) was an esteemed alumnus of Sainik School Amaravathinagar (Roll No. 597), born on 2 February 1954 in Sri Lanka.
After completing his training at the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy, he was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers on 15 June 1975. While serving with 8 Engineer Regiment as part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka, he was entrusted with the hazardous task of clearing booby traps near Jaffna Fort to facilitate the safe return of civilians.
Displaying exceptional courage and an unwavering sense of duty, he personally undertook the dangerous mission of defusing a booby trap. In the process, an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated by the LTTE, inflicting fatal injuries. On 12 August 1987, he made the Supreme Sacrifice in the service of the Nation.
For his conspicuous gallantry, exceptional devotion to duty, and selfless sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal (P). His life and legacy continue to inspire every cadet of Sainik School Amaravathinagar to uphold the highest ideals of courage, honour, and service before self.
