Captain K Manikandan has assumed the duties of Principal, Sainik School Amaravathinagar, on 01 May 23. He was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 10 Jan 2005.

       Capt Manikandan hails from Chennai, Tamilnadu and has completed his schooling and Bachelor of Engineering, in Mechanical Engineering from Chennai.

       On joining the Indian Navy under the Education Cadre, the Officer specialized in Navigation and Direction Course from ND School, Kochi, Southern Naval Command and is an alumni of the 2017 batch of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Tamilnadu. Garnering almost 16 years of experience in Education segment the officer's appointments include Senior Education Officer (SEDO) in ND School, Dy SEDO at INS Chilka (Sailors ab-initio training establishment), Sr Staff Officer (Education) in the Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command and Addl Registrar at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kannur.

        The Officer has been awarded the Chief of the Naval Staff Commendation in 2018 and the Commendation by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command in 2006.

       The officer is married to Mrs Lakshmi and the couple is blessed with twin daughters Ms. Akshaya and Ms. Akshara.
